TROMBONE 3

Jerry is an orthopedic surgeon who first came to town in 1976 as an intern at Lancaster General Hospital. After his orthopedic residency at the Mayo Clinic, he returned and joined Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster. He grew up in Minersville, PA and started playing baritone and then trombone in grade school. After college at Muhlenberg, he put the trombone away to pursue his medical studies. Once established in practice he helped start the Auscultation Brass, a group of Docs performing at various venues locally since 1985. He lives in Manheim Township with his wife Carla, who played clarinet and bassoon in their high school band. They have three sons, two of whom live locally, six grandkids and two great granddaughters. Now retired from the active practice of orthopedic surgery, he enjoys playing the Big Band tunes with the Moonlighters, 20’s and 30’s music with the Bluebird Orchestra and symphonic music with the Malta Band. He is active at Highland Presbyterian Church and the Lancaster Medical Heritage Museum. He also enjoys playing golf and mission work.
